Team reflection discussion
(45 mins):
In this section, we want to create a sense of ownership from our team. We want to make sure they are heard, and their expertise is put into action for our team’s [next year] plans.
Get them to spend 10 minutes writing down the answers to the below questions:
- What 3 things did we do well in [last year] that we should do more of?
- What 3 things did we not do well that we should do less of?
- What are we most excited about for [next year]?
Spend the next 30ish mins going through each question one by one, and hear out each person’s answers, write them all up on a whiteboard, and you should start to see patterns
Finally, commit to some collective actions as to what you want to focus on/do more of, and what you would like to change for [next year].
Current Projects – Review
This section is to run through all ongoing projects, for each one, ask questions like:
- What are we doing really well with this project?
- Where do we think we can make improvements?
Take down actions
Upcoming Projects – Make Action Plan
Same as above, run through any projects that haven’t yet kicked off
- What should be our starting point for this project?
- Where can we see any potential points of failure? How are we going to de-risk them?
Take down actions & responsibilities
[Next year] goals
Here is where you collectively decide what your goals, both financial, KPIs and project goals should be as a team in [next year]. Put numbers against them, and see what the team feel collectively comfortable committing to.
Action review
As with any great meeting, you need some time at the end to review all actions.
Assign these to people in the team, we want the number of actions on each person to be as even as possible.
Then assign dates and all commit together
Let’s go!
